Day 11: 2010 Kimberley Karavan Test Trek

Posted on April 01, 2010 by cameron

Tabulam – Alstonville

Wow! What a great place! After an early morning dip in the Clarence River it was back to camp for some breakfast then onto the quad bikes for a short tour around the property. It’s rugged country on the hillside coming in but the river frontage is nice big river flats that Bart has spent years painstakingly clearing away lantana. The main swimming hole is just fantastic and with the recent rain over summer it is full and flowing well. You could easily spend days in a place like this just swimming and eating and sleeping and swimming and eating and sleeping some more….

Our time at the farm came to an end all too quickly. In fact, this whole trip has drawn to a close all too quickly. What did this trip mean to me? Well, I had three main tasks when I left; 1. provide a Karavan for filming ‘Whats Up Downunder’, 2. film & photograph the Karavan for our own marketing and, 3. deliver the van safely to its new owners in Cobar. Mission accomplished for all three – to see the ‘Whats Up Downunder’ episode you’ll need to be watching the show in April (see Kimberley Kampers website for more details), my own video efforts will start appearing on our YouTube channel from the 9th April onwards and you should have seen the smiles on John & Jenny’s faces when I handed over the keys for their new Karavan…priceless!
